A Kiss on the Chic

Love, Tuesday...

Well, today I am LOVING this..

I finally finished my birdhouse!!  Remember about a week ago I showed you the ruffle "roof" I made?  Well, I finished the roof today after I boxed and shipped all the April KITS OUT (woohoo) and I have to say I had SO much FUN making this!!

Here's a few other close-ups of it...

 

Here you can see the ruffles!  They were sooo easy and make an adorable roof!  I collaged all the papers and ephemera and added the little green "skirt" to the bottom!

I created the fence by cutting it in half and glueing it on the corner to wrap around the side.  Then I created a little flower garden with some sprigs of Spring flowers and a button flower I made...

here you can see the button flower on the right side and the flowers I cut out of the Girl Paperie paper.

and here's the girl who thinks it's now hers!!  I told her "maybe" after I have some time with it myself! ;)-  This is one of my FAV things I've made lately and I may have a hard time parting with it...

So, as I mentioned above, I have boxed up ALL the kits and had my USPS pick up scheduled for today (I checked to confirm and YES, it was for today) BUT... they have NOT showed up yet?!  What's the deal with that?  Don't they know you ladies want your kits YESTERDAY??!!  So, I set up another pickup for tomorrow and in the comments I let them know (in a nice way ;)-  they better come get these boxes tomorrow morning!  Now the only boxes that are NOT in this group are the ladies who have ordered my April Online class.  I'm sorry, but I am still awaiting my Product Performers box with a couple things for that class.  I should have it any day...  But I think I pretty much ROCK this month... I mean who gets their APRIL kit around the 1st of APRIL!!?? 

Yesterday, my dear friend Cindy came by and helped me stamp some things for this kit and we went a little CRAZY... take a look:

I mean, these are sooo PERFECT for this kit arent' they??  We took the French book from Ruth and stamped the Girl Paperie dress form stamp on it and it's so Shabby Chic!!  Then we took the flower stamp from October Afternoon and stamped the same French book paper and that is STUNNING!  Then we were going to stamp the typewriter on the canvas material but it wouldn't show up, no matter what ink we used, it just wouldn't show up on the canvas.  So we switched the typewriter stamp to the tag!  I think it looks GREAT!  Then we Sizzixed the canvas with the heart w/wings die and used an older stamp "Create ART" on it!  AND... then we thought there was a little bit more canvas left so we stamped the bird in a nice Fuschia and viola'.... you have a little extra GOODIES for this month!!

 And, Cindy had some time to play with this months kit and with ONLY SCRAPS that were left over created a very cute mini album with a Jenni Bowlin mini album:

   Thanks Cindy!  and you can ALL thank Cindy for the little goodies she stamped too!  She comes over just about every week and is my sounding board on the kids, oops I meant KITS (but kids too ;)0, my kit "stuffer" and just a GREAT friend!!

 So this month, Heidi Sonboul is the Guest Designer and I can't WAIT to show you her designs with this kit!  I will have some of her designs by tomorrow and I will share!  I'm still having issues with my email so I think she sent me some things that I ended up not getting...  Hopefully this isn't happening with you ladies as well!  If you've sent me an email in the last day and I haven't responded, that could be the problem...  it is my GOAL over Easter Break to get everything switched to the MAC I got for CHRISTMAS... yes, it's sitting here in my "office" in the box, untouched, sad and all alone... I do LOVE YOU Mac... though I'm going to need a better name for "her"... any ideas?? ;)-

This month was another HUGE Success and I have to THANK YOU ladies for that!  It's a JOY to come up with these kits for YOU and I am thrilled that you all still come here and want them!! LOVE THAT!!!

Oh I have sooo much to share...

I am counting down the days (we all are in our family) until we get to see this little peanut:

YES, that's ELLA!  I haven't shown pictures of her in a while have I??  Oh, we can't WAIT to hug her!!  Can you believe she's almost a YEAR!!??  Wow, that has gone by FAST!!  She was born on Tax Day last year...

They are coming here for EASTER and my mom is OVER THE MOON about it!

Ty called me today and said he thinks she took her first step!  I told him NO, she had to wait until she's with us!! lol... 
 

Speaking of my brother...

he has had a subscription to www.ancestry.com for a while and I haven't really had the time to look into our family lineage, but it's very fascinating to me!  He is a history buff and even married a history teacher, so he had done some research into our family lines.

Well, get this...

We are desendents of

KING HENRY II of England!  Get OUT?!!

According to our family tree, he can trace our bloodlines back to about 1000AD!  Isn't that SUPER COOL!!?  What makes it even MORE exciting is... We are going to Europe this Summer and I want to look up all this research before we go so we can see where our family lived!!  I'm going to go with Cindy to the Mormon church here in town (she's mormon) and she's going to help me do more research on it...

My Grandma on my dad's side is English and I guess someone in her family owns a Pub in England, which we want to visit while we are there!  And I guess there's French Royalty in our family as well, so I am ALL over this next month!  I am going to research the heck out of this and have everything ready to go before our trip!

You see, this trip was originally planned around Victoria's School Theater program.  They are doing a tour of London and surrounding area for 9 days in June and we decided to turn it into a family trip!  We booked hotels, planned our route, made airline reservations and then... The teacher and tour company CHANGED THE DATES!!  Yup, nothing we could do about it...  We were pretty upset about it because we wanted her to have the experience with her classmates.  They are going to see several plays, go backstage at the GLOBE Theater, do some theater workshops and other GREAT things!  We are very bummed that Victoria will not be able to do that.  We just couldn't change all our plans b/c we had things booked and we waited until the last possible minute to do it, but the tour company just told us last week they had to change the dates by a couple weeks...

The GOOD news though is we will have 7 days in England with nothing to do!!!  Yes, that is GREAT news b/c NOW we are going to explore!!  We plan to do a Jane Austen tour (oh yeah, we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her)

and maybe visit one of the mansions in Pride & Predjudice like this one:

 

we plan to go to Strafford upon Avon,

Which is Shakespeares birthplace... 

we bought tickets to see Love Never Dies by Andrew Lloyd Webber!  Have you heard about this?  It's the  SEQUEL to The Phantom of the Opera!!!  It just opened in London only and we can't WAIT to see it!!! 

We're also going to see Macbeth at the Globe Theater. 

And, of course try to find pictures of our long, lost relatives while there! hehehe... (Victoria wants to know is she's a princess now?! LOL) At the Tower of London, I remember a room with all the pictures of the Royal Families and I want to find who were related to and take our picture next to them... (ya, I know I'm totally cheeseball ;)-

And of course do some of this:

and more shopping!! This is a picture of the Portebello Road Market that London is famous for!  Lance and I went to it last summer and it's where I got a lot of the vintage items for my kits!!  I plan on scouring this place for more FINDS!!!  So, we are actually excited for the way it worked out and can't WAIT for June to get here!!

If anyone knows of other MUST see's while were are in England, please let us know!  Also, if any of my Enlgish friends want to meet up for lunch, that would be a BLAST!  I'm also looking into having Victoria do some sort of theater workshop while we are there so any links or ideas would be most helpful...

Speaking of Victoria... I don't know that I've showed pictures of the girls in a while...  They are so busy with school right now.  She's at practice for Annie and is so excited about that!  I think I showed you we dyed her hair??  Oh ya, the fiasco of ORANGE hair is no longer... She looks lovely as a brunette and is thinking she will keep this color.  She's actually about the color of Isabella and Rebecca's hair, but really likes how the dark looks on her.  Here's a picture she took not long ago...

my little "artsy" photographer!  I can't believe she is going to be 16 soon!!  Wow, time is going WAY to fast for me these days...

Rebecca just won 1st place in her schools Speach Meet!!  She is such a SUPER student and LOVES school so much she wants to be a teacher some day!  Wouldn't you know it though, the day of the Speach Meet I'll be at INSPIRED!!  boohoo... 

Here's a picture of Rebecca back in February.  She actually looks different to me then when this was taken.  She is growing up so fast! She's also changing because of our healthy eating lately...

Did I tell you about that?  I think I "vented" one day about it... It all started with Victoria's PE Coach telling her that she wanted all the girls to go on the Daniel Fast.  Well, we didn't know that was what is was, we were just told by Victoria that we could eat fruits, vegtables and water.  That's IT.  So, we went forward and decided to do that for 1 week.  The first few days were a nightmare! But guess what, we are so into this now!

We plan to stay "vegetarian" for a while.  We have brought more food back into our diet, but we are still staying away from bad carbs, sweets and beef.  It really hasn't been that hard for us!  We want to stay on this until our trip with only a few occasions where we will veer from it.  But it's been a GREAT thing for us.  We are eating so much healthier, feeling better and starting to loose some weight!  My goal is to loose 15 lbs. before our trip in June!  The girls want to get in shape as well, but don't really have weight to loose, just need to be in better shape.  I really think we can stay on this because I have come up with some really GREAT meals and the girls are all used to their lunches of fruit, veggies and nuts and are liking it!!  Anyone else doing this??  Would love some meal suggestions!

Well, I feel like a gave birth to a book today...this post is SUPER-SIZED! ;)  I think I started this post this morning??  oh well, it's now done,  I'm going to hit the publish button and call it a day...

Wow, I was wondering where everyone was!!

My emails weren't working!  It was 7:10 and no orders?!!  YIKES!  But now I see all of you!  whew..... ;)-

I rebooted my computer and now the emails are working!  I sooo need to switch over to my MAC!  I just can't seem to find the time to make an appt. with the Apple guys...

So, I'm glad to see you ladies are loving the April kits!  That puts a SMILE on my face for sure!

I wanted to share some more layouts and cards from the DT while I have your attention...

So here's one that Melanie just sent me!

See all the sewing she did on this card!  She told me it took her a long time and now I know why! ;) -  That's why I don't sew on my layouts... (but truthfully, I can't even figure out how to thread the darn needle!! )

I love this card though Melanie!  And this also gives you a peak at some of the backsides of the papers in the kit!

Since I'm showing you cards, here's another card from Norma Kennedy!  It looks like she sewed on hers too...  I guess I need one of them to come over to my house to show me how to set up the sewing machine... (or I could ask my mom ;)-

and here's a layout from Emeline Seet!  I LOVE how she cut out those "flowers" from one of the papers and made them an accent on this layout!

Again, this kit will be so versatile like last months!  Can't WAIT to see what you ladies do with it!!

This is soooo CREATIVE!!  This comes from Emeline Seet and I love what she did here!  This is with the Maya Road Dress Form book and it looks like she just used one page from it to make this!  LOVE IT!!

And this mini album is from Norma Kennedy!  She was telling me that her niece  is starting to learn to sew and she is giving this notebook/mini album to her to write in!  BRILLIANT!!

and here's such a FUN layout from Melanie S.  By the way, the black polka dot paper is the other FREE paper you are getting in the kit that is not shown in the picture!!  I love the pictures of her daughter trying on all the clothes!!

Kit Reveal Day!!

Hi ladies!  I'm busy getting everything up on here so it will be ready at 7PM PST TONIGHT!!

I'm so excited for this kit!  It is so "me" because of all the FUN colors and Vintage "vibe"! I know you will LOVE it too because it is such a FULL kit of goodies!

Remember, there are some things not shown in the picture.

I had the metal tin and flowers and just decoupaged the Girl Paperie papers and the Homespun Chic papers to the tin and added some ribbon and a flower with the HOME brad in the middle!  Super easy and so "Shabby Chic"!

Happy Friday!!

It's getting closer to the REVEAL night and I'm working hard to get everything together so it turns out GREAT!

I am excited for the kits that I have and all the Ad-ons as well!  You will have your choices, that's for sure! 

Did you happen to see the Main kit picture over at www.scrapscene.com ?  Isn't it ADORABLE??!!  The colors of this kit are so pretty and I have to say this kit has such a great mix of products, it's just "me" wrapped into a kit! lol...

Oh, the kit picture doesn't have everything shown!  I got this in the mail from one of our very own "Kid Ladies", Ruth Landry:

Isn't this just lovely!!  This is a leather bound French book!  Ruth told me that she taught French for over 25 years and even has her Masters in French!  Wow, can you teach me it in less then 8 weeks??  I soooo wish I knew more French!!  I'm trying to learn Italian before we go but that's probably not going to happen either...

So, THANK YOU RUTH!  I LOVE this book and plan to put it to good use in this months kit!!

There are also 2 double-sided papers from October Afternoon that will be in this kit (but not shown in the picture)  I had originally thought I would mix some black with this kit but then after arranging the kit for the picture, I didn't want to "darken" it's lovely Spring spirit! hehehe... So, rather then save those papers for a different kit, I'm just THROWING THEM IN FOR FREE!!

And don't forget the digital image is not in the picture but will either be sent to you in a digital file or printed out and in the kit...

It's a REVEAL Weekend!!

Hi ladies!  Are you getting excited for the April Kit Reveal??

I know I am SUPER excited to show you the kits!  These really are FUN and COLORFUL this month!  I mean, how can you resist "Homespun Chic" by Melody Ross!  Or the new "Thrift Shop" by October Afternoon??  And then, the BRAND NEW company The Girl Paperie by Margie and her ADORABLE "Paper Girl" Collection!!  This kit is AMAZING (I swear, I'm not just saying that...)  There were SO many embellishments this month, I didn't know when to quit...  I did split some of the packages of embellishments up b/c otherwise this kit would be a $100 kit!  And I KNOW you've been to your LSS and spent that much... let's be honest.  When we see all the new stuff we HAVE to HAVE, that bill is GIANT!  So, I'm easing your pain by giving you WHAT you WANT, in a more reasonable price range!!  Beside, how many times do we buy a whole package of something and only use half of it (or not even half) anyways...

Oh, I'm also offering two other "kits"...

The first one is the class kits from the class at Scrapbook Oasis.  I will have some left, so those will be up on the Kit Reveal night!  So for all of you ladies who wanted to take the class, but don't live around here, this is your chance to grab one of the ones I have left.

A beautiful mistake...

So I was working this week on some "class kits" for Archiver's with Clear Scraps Albums and came up with this:

Only, here's the problem... they don't carry this 6x6 tabbed album at Archivers!!! lol..  I told Susan from Clear Scraps I'll try to cut off the tabs and she called me and said, noooooo..... it's too pretty, we'll use it somewhere else...maybe teach if for CHA??  or some other class...  So it's a beautiful "mistake" that will have to be used for something else...  I wanted to show you the first inside page though b/c I made it so that you can see "through" to the back page:

And I also embossed JUST the edges of each page and inked it with Tsukineko Staz On Ink in yellow. 

I also worked on another project that they will be featuring on the Clear Scraps website soon.  It's there "Basket" album and it's REALLY cute!  it has 3 pages that are "egg" shaped and I'm going to share step-by-step instructions either on their blog or this blog next week so stay tuned... It's from October Afternoon and it's there flashcard books!  I bought them to seperate and put in the kit, but now I'm thinking I may sell them as an add-on because i don't know if I want to break up each album??  what do you think??  you want a few of these or a whole set to make a cute album with??

So I've decided to do the April Kit in March!  Yes, most everyone wanted there kit sooner then later so I will REVEAL the April Kit on March 28th at 7PM PST.  That is a Sunday night and I decided to go ahead and do it again on a Sunday night because I figure most of us are all home and not working...

I wanted to mention one more time about my class at Scrapbook Oasis .  It is next week Friday, March 26th at their store in Irvine and I'm making this adorable wall hanging:

It's actually with most of the April Kit products, Melody Ross "Homespun Chic" and it's going to be a BLAST to teach!  So call them TODAY to sign up!  I always bring good prizes...  There # is 949-756-2729 and there's still some room left!!  If you don't live close by, you can call them for a kit or order one from me AFTER the class if I have any left...

I don't know if I've mentioned this but our whole family has been on what's called The Daniel Fast this week.  We are on day 4 and it's actually getting easier!  Victoria's PE teacher at school said she's like all the girls to go on this a while back.  We KNOW we've been eating like "c @#p" lately and so I decided to put the WHOLE family on this.  I haven't looked at this website yet,  but just did what Victoria said the teacher told them and she has a paper that lists the foods we can eat.  Basically it's fruits and vegtables.  So last Sunday I went and stocked up on all that so we were ready to go for Monday.  Well, "stocked up" wasn't really true.  I've been to the store EVERY day except today to get MORE fruit and veggies.  Boy, they go through you... ;)-  So this week has been a challenge...  Not sure if it's the food, but we have been one crabby family! lol...  I think it's our bodies detoxing from all the garbage in our body??  But I feel like day 4 we are "comin' round the mountain"...  I feel GREAT, feel like the dark circles under my eyes that I ALWAYS have aren't so dark and I feel a LOT of energy today! (which wasn't the case the first 2 days)  So I'm going to go research this more on the link above.  I was planning on doing this for 7 days but think we will continue on this until Easter.  Maybe bring back protein (and I've let Isabella have some protein for fear this is too strick for her little body) but I don't want to add carbs back yet...  So if any of you out there have GREAT Vegetarian recipes or websites you know of, PLEASE email me with them!  I'm in dire need of new things to make... Tonight it's roasted veggies and green beans with a "hoisen glaze"  and maybe some toasted almonds... ( I don't think the almonds are on the list though...) I do have to say one thing... The Daniel Fast is for Body, Mind and Spirit and quite honestly we have not done the Spiritual part of it.  I wasn't aware of that part of it and will need to take about that part with our whole family tonight.  I think that would have helped us in the first few days and we may need to extend this for another week so we can do that part of it as well...

O.k. I'm going to go back to putting my kits together...  OH... I forgot to tell you...

My girlie Heidi Sonboul is going to be the GUEST DESIGNER for April!!  As many of you know, she is the DT Coordinator for GCD Studios and who better to have as the Guest then a "Homespun Chic" girl!! ;)-  So I'm excited to see what she does with this kit!  Check back here for more about my dear friend next month!!

1. I haven't gotten word yet from Scrapbook.com about the webisode I did with them... Not sure when that will air, but if anyone sees it, PLEASE let me know!!

2. The May kits... I know, I know... a little early right?  Well, I'm ordering the rest of the product for them today and I have a dilemma...

You see, we're leaving for Europe in June so I've decided NOT to do any kits for June.  BUT... that kit was going to be Pink Paislee's 365 + Girl Paperie Travel...  I know!  How can I NOT???  So my dilemma is... do I do 2 kits in May?  Because the May kit is already planned and INSPIRED by this:

Remember these?  This was a GIFT from our very own Norma and it has inspired an AWESOME kit that you are going to WANT!!

So, I'm thinking I may do BOTH kits in May... But with two kits, an online class that is SUPER COOL and the products are coming in the mail today... hint... D.D..., INSPIRED in May, Annie production that Victoria is in, and a quick trip to Las Vegas with hubby for a tradeshow... not sure I will be sane that month!!! ugh...not sure what to do??

Oh, I tell you... I probably bug you ladies?  I really spill my guts everytime I'm on here!  I'm a "say it as it is girl" and it comes out like that on my blog... (my mom and others have pointed that out :)  I can't help it, it's the way I am and I try to watch what I say but that's hard for me! lol...

Happy Monday and Registration OPENS for April's ONLINE CLASS!!

Hi Ladies!

I hope all of you enjoyed your weekend and are starting to see the signs of Spring in the air!  We had a beautiful weekend and spent most of it down in Seal Beach at my moms.  Friday night I taught at Paper Tales and had a BLAST with the ladies!  They all seemed to love the project and had FUN so that's always GREAT!  So HI ladies!!  Most of them have never been to my blog before so if you're stopping by today, WELCOME!!  One of the ladies has taken a class from me before at Scrapbook Oasis and came all the way down to San Diego to take another one!  She's going to be at INSPIRED as well and offered to help me, so THANK YOU for that!!

Saturday we decided to go down to my mom and dads and spend some time with them.  The girls always LOVE going there and since I was planning on going to the Rose Bowl Flea Market on Sunday, it was nice to not have to drive all the way from San Diego to Pasadena!!  

Speaking of the Rose Bowl... if you are ever in So. Cal on the 2nd Sunday of every month, you HAVE to check this out!  Rose Bowl Flea Market is a TON of fun and you just never know what you'll find here!  One word of advise... Bring your OWN food and have a picnic on the grass.  Victoria and I got hungry and went to the food booths and ordered 2 garlic french fries and 2 lemonades and it was $24.00!!  YES, can you believe it?  I about died when he told me and then had to hold myself back from telling him to pound sand and instead told him to give us just one lemonade and that only brought it down to $19.00!  ugh... So bring your own food!

But getting past the food issues, the place is SO MUCH FUN!  You really get to see all kinds of things you've never seen before or remember seeing as a kid (yes, I'm "VINTAGE" now I guess ;)-  and tring to find special things for the Kit Club is the MOST fun!!

(maybe quite literally ;)-  I asked how much these were and the guy said he was just maning the booth while the lady went to the bathroom.  He asked someone else and they said $1.00 each!  Oh man, was I terrible to buy these as fast as I could??!!  lol...

Some vintage trims.  they aren't quite as bright as this photo shows... Can you guess what line this will be PERFECT with?  Leave a comment and the first one that guesses will get a little extra something in their box next month!!

My FAV find of the day!!  I've been looking (and so has my mom) for vintage rhinestone broaches and earrings FOREVER!  They are usually way too expensive and I need a LOT for a kit or class.  So lots of places had them at the Rose Bowl but wanted $5-7 dollars EACH!  Then I came across a booth that had cardboard boxes FULL of these and other vintage jewerly and I told Victoria we were going to be a while...  He gave a pretty good deal and I bought 27 of them!  I should have bought more but I just wasn't sure my budget would allow...  So this will either be for a future kit or future class kit.  I'm leaning towards a class kit b/c then I can make something with them and show you a complete project!!  LOVE THEM...

This is an old belt buckle that I picked up.  It has all the rhinestones still in, which is amazing and I thought it would look great as a frame!

So, most of you remember Deb from my Design Team.  She is CRAZY about Alice in Wonderland and has been trying to get me to do a Alice themed kit for a VERY long time!   I know this past month would have been a PERFECT time to do that because of the release of the new Alice movie (which I saw in Arizona).  But I just haven't had time to do a kit like that and would want to do it justice if I did.   Well, I came across this Golden Book yesterday and it may be the start of something to come...  In the meantime, go over and say Hi to Debbie Famularo!!  If you click on the link above, you will see what she's been up to lately!  Love you Deb!!

 This is what I go to Flea Markets for... Unexpected TREASURES!!  O.k. maybe some of you may have seen these before?  I have never...  and the guy that had these said they used to come in candy boxes or cigerette boxes.  I'm telling you, these are SO LOVELY, I can't WAIT to do something with them!  I bought a ton and they have inspired me to do a whole kit around them!  There were all different types of pictures on them but I went for most of the really old ones that show queens and kings and such... LOVE THEM!!

Now onto my Online Class info...

TODAY, is the VERY 1st Online Class!!  it will go LIVE around Noon PST and I can't WAIT to get some feedback on the class after you finish it!  PLEASE let me know what you think of it!  I'd LOVE any emails from you to let me know what you thought, if you liked it, did I clearly show how to make it, was it easy to understand, did you like it in video format?  All of that and any other helpful ideas!!

I'm working on a couple projects for Archivers this week and will see if I can share them when I'm done.  Clear Scraps has asked me to do a few class kits for them so they could have them in Archivers!  I'm excited to do this and hopefully you'll see them in your Archivers soon!

I'm going to try to switch over to my Apple computer this week.  I have been going and going all year so far and haven't had a chance to do that, so this week I may be gone for a few days while I do this.  I'll still have this computer on and will be able to get emails, but will be transfering over as much as I can to the new computer, including emails, later this week.

On my way...

well, almost.  I'm getting ready for my class tonight at Paper Tales!  So excited to get down there again to teach, {LOVE} that store!

I also am excited about my April Online Class!  I just finished it last night and sent it off to Judith and she LOVED IT!! It's really "fresh" and "Springy" and I hope all of you LOVE it!!

I will share a little SNEAK next week and you KNOW it's hard for me to wait, but I have to...  This working in secrecy is killing me!  I have about 1/2 a dozen projects I'm working on right now that I CAN'T share!  ugh... that is REALLY hard for me to do!

So I've been watching the comments this week and emails as well and it looks like the majority of you want the April kit ASAP!  So... I've decided to go for it and REVEAL the April kit in March!  This way you will HAVE the kit in your pretty little hands over Spring Break and can play with it when your kids drive you NUTS and you need a little time alone... hehehe...

The only issue I found with revealing the kits early is that Girl Paperie will not have all their embellishments until end of April.  This would have been the case even if I waited a week, until April, so that's just the way the cookie crumbles this time.  I've told them to keep all the embellishments on backorder for me and when the time comes to ship, I'll decide it I still want them or not...

So the kits will STILL be AWESOME and have all the same papers (including Girl Paperie) and TONS of embellishments from Homespun Chic and October Afternoon and Etsy and so on and son on... :)- (you know I can't get enough of embellishments!)

So check back here next week for an exact date of the April REVEAL, but it will most likely be Sunday the 28th at 7PM PST, or Monday the 29th at 7PM PST.  Sometimes Sunday is easier b/c we are all home getting ready for the work week/school week, but I haven't decided on that yet...

OH!  So excited... I'm going to go check out an Antique Market this weekend!   I can't WAIT to browse the rows, looking for goodies for the kits!  I'll share my "finds" next week!

Kits are in the MAIL!

So all you ladies get ready to PLAY!!  The kits were all mailed out yesterday except for the Int'l. ones.  Let me know when you get your kits safe and sound!  And, I LOVE sharing what YOU do with my kits, so send me pictures when your done!

(i'm a sucker for embellishments, have you noticed? lol)  I hope I got them all but they are done and ready to go!  Unfortunately, this class is SOLD OUT and I won't be able to even sell any leftovers on the blog...  But those you bought the French Couture Kit back in October??  you pretty much have everything to make this class and after the class (since it's sold out) I will put up the directions on the website under class instructions!

The class that you CAN take and is still open is at  Scrapbook Oasis in Irvine on March 26 at 7pm!  So check it out and sign up, I'd LOVE to meet you there!

So I know you haven't even received your March kits, but I have some QUESTIONS for YOU about future kits... This is a LOT of work to put together and it's best if I can prepare WAY ahead and I'm trying to plan my kits for the next few months before I leave for Europe and take the Summer off of the kit club...

I already have the April Kits almost done and would like to know when you'd like to have me REVEAL them??  I could do it during Easter Break (the 1st week in April) OR I could do them in March so you'd HAVE THEM during Easter Break and can PLAY with them!!  That is kind of my dilemma and would LOVE any input...  I don't want to make it a financial difficulty for you to buy two kits in one month, but it would be nice to have these BEAUTIFUL Spring Kits to play with during your Spring Break??

So PLEASE leave a comment on here and let me know what you'd like to do!  I can REVEAL them on the 28/29th of THIS month, or wait until AFTER Easter around the 5/6th of April... Which one works best for you??

Can you believe it?  This kit is going to ROCK ladies!  I am SO excited about this one and the colors in all these are AMAZING! This will probably be split up into a MAIN Kit and Add-on kit b/c it would be pretty costly to have it all in one... But,  I have a theme that runs through the whole thing and it is centered around the 1950's with VINTAGE women images and TYPEWRITER images!  and I found some GREAT things on Etsy... Happy Monday!

We had such a GREAT time in Arizona last week!  What a great town with LOTS to do!

We arrived on Wednesday and rented a car so I could tool around the town and check out as many scrapbook stores as possible... what else is new? :)-

Then we went to this AWESOME restaurant with a business associates of Lance's (he was there for the Western Dental Show) and they took us to an AMAZING restaurant!  What's funny about it is, I've bragged about this place to several people while IN ARIZONA and nobody had heard of it!  It's called Chelsea's Kitchen and from the link I gave you, you'd have NO idea how cool it is... (you need a website from my hubby people :)  But this place is GREAT!  If I lived anywhere near this place, Lance and I would be hanging out here with the family (or just us) every week!  This place has ambiance galore!  It's a very casual restaurant with reasonable prices for a family but GREAT, FRESH, ORGANIC FOOD!  You really can't get better then that, but this place CAN!  Because it has an indoor/outdoor vibe going on.  It's literally open to the outside for half of the restaurant with tables outside on their patio that are surrounded with trees with white lights in them and a HUGE fireplace keeping everything warm.  Plus it's against the canal that runs through Phoenix.  It's just a really nice place to hang out, have some great food and just sit for a few hours to enjoy Arizona weather in the evening.  We were there on a Wednesday night and this place was hoppin'...  So if you're ever in the area or you live there and have never been, don't wait... Go NOW!  And thanks Chuck for showing us such a GREAT place and a great time!  I took a few pictures on my iPhone but they didn't turn out great but I did post them on Facebook...

Then Thursday was THE day... Yup, the day I filmed at www.scrapbook.com !  It was SOOO much fun and I think it's going to turn out really great because boy, do they have a room all tricked out for this!  It had lights, sound proof padding on the walls, cameras, computers, light boxes, you NAME it, it had it!  I will definately let you know when that video goes LIVE so you can check out my project!

But here's a quick picture I took with Kelsey who is the one who helped set it up:

You can kind of see part of the room. I should have taken more pictures but I was totally focused on making sure I was teaching the TECHNIQUES I wanted to show...

So after the filming (and a long phonecall with Heidi, love that girl :)- I made my way to a few scrapbook stores in the area!  Now if I had had it all mapped out like my friend Lissa who came to town on Saturday with her map of ALL the scrapbook stores in AZ (she works for 3L Adhesive) I would have known the stores I missed where SUPER close together and I could have gone to more! 

But, I made it to this one first:

The Paper Vineyard which my friend Cindy told me to go check out.  So I open the door, walk in and the lady at the counter stops me and says..."What's your name?"  o.k.  I'll play along... "Laura McCollough".... and she says... " OH MY... I was JUST reading your blog!!!"   She even looked at me and said "you don't live around here do you?"  ..."nope, just here for a webisode for Scrapbook.com"...  so, come to find out, she knows me b/c she knows Kim Hesson and Kim has me on her blog links...   

{smile} wow, this blog thing is really CRAZY FUN!  I can't believe how SMALL this world is in "blogland"... 

So HI to all of you at Paper Vineyard!!  Great store and great to meet you!  I might even teach a class at this store later this year, so that would be a kick for sure!

Then, I went to Melrose Vintage!

and WOW, this place is really, really, REALLY cute!  The bummer with me is I get SO excited about where I am that I forget to get "outside the moment" and take pictures for YOU to see!

But, I managed to remember at the VERY end before I left (I was there for over 2 hours :) and here's a tidbit of their store:

So this store is a mix of antiques, home decor items and scrapbooking all with a VERY "Shabby Chic" vibe... Are you in LOVE already?? hehe... I AM!  And after chatting with the owner in her office, they're my new BFF too! lol...  

 
This store is huge and has several rooms.  The room you can see past the things up front is the scrapbook room and has all things PRETTY for scrapbooking and altered art!  LOVE IT...

Here's their front register area and you can see a peak at the owners daughter.  I just LOVE how they have beautiful things all around the store and displays with banners or Easter eggs and such... Such a "girly" store, I can't stand it!  I wish this was in my own town...  But I'll be back... I PROMISE!!

 

Here I am with the owner Diane.  She is SO much FUN and we talked about doing a girls weekend thing in late September or early October where I come and teach a couple classes! Wouldn't that be GREAT!  I'm going to work that out with her and when I do, I'll make sure I get the details up on here so we can really make this FUN!!

Diane was so nice to come out and take a picture of me out front.  This store just HAS to be on your "bucket list" my ladies...  You will LOVE this gem!  (be mindful of the store hours... you can see them on the pot behind me and plan your trip accordingly :)

So after I closed the place down...lol... I hurried to get back to the hotel so we could go see a SUNS game!  We stayed two blocks from their arena so we decided to take the two Sales guys that were at the trade show with Lance with us.  One is from Arizona up north and played basketball at one time with one of the guys on the team.  I think this one:

The one shooting with his hands in the air.  I can't remember his name but Clayton was excited to get down courtside and see them practice before the game. 

 and I had them take my picture so I could document it on my blog...  I tell you, it's funny now that I've had a blog for a couple years how you think about it in your daily life.  A blog is tons of fun, but also such a part of my life now that it almost dictates my life a little too... Does that make sense?  I have all these experiences and I KNOW I get more of these "experiences" then most, so I guess I just think about how I WANT to share those with my blog friends and that carries over into everything I do... especially on trips.

Anways... unfortunately the Suns didn't pull off a win and even if they had, I wouldn't have seen it, because about 10 minutes into the game I got a MAJOR headache and Lance had to take me back to the hotel at half time.  I don't get headaches so when one came on where I couldn't stand the sound of ANYTHING or even barely keep my eyes open to the light, I new I was in trouble...  Thankfully with some Motrin and sleep, I was o.k. the next day!

I could go on and on about my FUN trip(like my super fun lunch with Lissa, my friend from San Diego that was there at the same time) but I NEED to get my boxes out!  Cindy came over today to help me finish the last minute details like the canvas tags we stamped the dress form on and the little flags for the kit. Btw, the flags are NOT assembled in your kit.  I decided to leave the flag OFF of the stick in case you decided you'd want a different paper for your flag.  So in that case, just use the flag you have as a template and just adhere with some Tacky glue whichever flag you want to your stick...

I will be shipping the boxes tomorrow.  I thought I'd have it all together today, but unfortunately the trip threw me back a day (I should have known) and I'm also waiting on the ball and chain needed for the March Online Class.  That should be coming overnight in the morning (thankfully called the Company today b/c it was supposed to be shipped 2/26 and it was still at their warehouse today :)- and all will be good tomorrow! 

I hope all of you had a GREAT weekend!  I will keep you updated on everything after I ship out the kits tomorrow...  I have a class on Friday that is sold out but if you're in the area next weekend, I have this class:

Love, Tuesday...

Lots of reasons to Love today...

I know I said this yesterday, but it's so GREAT to be back with kits!!  It was fun to stay up last night and watch all of YOU come back to my Kit Club and buy a kit!  You don't know how much I appreciate that!!  I know I was gone for a while (well not really "gone") and to have SO many of you come back and start up with my kit club again is FANTASTIC!!

And to have my lovely Design Team stay with me and want to create WHENEVER it is that I make kits, is also SO wonderful!

So, I think I should share more from these "Beautiful Blessings" called Norma Kennedy, Melanie Stanczyk and Emeline Seet!  Love you girls!!

So here's some Love this Tuesday:

Here is a Birthday Journal from Norma!  She made this by hand and told me she's going to put tags in a pocket on each page and journal and have pictures for each person who has a birthday that month!  What a GREAT idea!!

And this lovely Journal is from Emeline Seet!  She made this with the Donna Downey Canvas paper and the 7 Gypsies gold metal edges!  I wanted to give everyone one of those in the kit, but they only sent me a few packages b/c they were out of them and they are pretty expensive...  Emeline said this was going to be her journal to write in all her blessings!   LOVE IT!!

And here's a layout from Melanie S.  I'm not sure how she did the butterflies, but they look to be handcut out of the Canvas paper and painted and distressed!  I LOVE that!  And, notice the chipboard letters... it looks like she dyed them!!  So cool.. Melanie, can you tell us what you used to paint or dye these?  It looks GREAT!

There are more examples but I will share those next week!  I'm busy getting ready to go to Arizona for my Scrapbook.com webisode and I'm a bit nervous about it.  I've been working on the project today and just need to make sure I have everything I need for the step-outs and figure out what I want to say and all that stuff... wish me luck...

I will be mailing out all the kits on Monday, the 8th and that will be BOTH the March kit AND the Online Class Kits!  So if you needed anything else, make sure you purchase it before Monday. 

I do have 2 March Kits left so grab one fast if you want one!  I haven't had a chance to go in a delete what is sold out, but you'll see what is sold out if you click on it and it doesn't go into your cart.

Getting excited yet?  I know I AM!!

Here's a quick layout I finished over the weekend with the kit:

My Favorite book...

This is a picture of Isabella when she was about 7 months old.  (both pictures actually)  I literally found her on her floor "reading" this book!  We read it almost every night before bed and her book shelf is right behind her and she CLEARED the WHOLE bookshelf out, found this book and was actually "reading" it!  I had to run to get my camera for this one!  I covered the mess she made with other books with that flower but LOVE the look on her face so deep in this book!  (she still LOVES me or her sisters to read to her every night and she's now READING herself!)

Remember this is the LO I started last week:

The butterfly paper was sort of a scrap paper b/c I used some butterflies for something else.  So I ended up tearing the top to look similar to the bottom and but some WP cream paper behind both areas.  Then I used the NEW packaging from the Prima letters (in the kit) for the photo frame and covered a Jenni Bowlin chipboard butterfly with the VINTAGE book paper in the kit...

Here you can see little Isabella closer.  And you can see the Prima packaging, the Prima new Swirls, the Prima chipboard AND the Prima flowers... well, you get the idea... I {heart} Prima!!

Kit Reveal TONIGHT at 7PM PST!!!

Hi everyone!

I'm so excited about tonights REVEAL of the kits!  It's been a while hasn't it?!  So I'm working hard to have EVERYTHING ready and I'm feeling really good that I'm ahead of schedule...

I wanted to mention something about the March Online Class before I forget...

On my Kit Reveal page tonight, I will have a very limited "extra's kit" that will be for those who didn't get the Class Kit and need the supplies!  This little kit will include the Vintage Book paper circles, Vintage Sheet Music, brown rick-rac, brown polka dot ribbon, brown leaf trim and the ball and chain to hang the keys.  Those are the items I know most of you are having trouble finding.
