Love, Tuesday...

Well, the kids are all in school and the music is on in the house!!  It's just too quiet without it...  

So today I may TRY to relax.... If you know me, that's pretty hard to do b/c I'm mothers daughter... We're always on the go, working around the house, errands to run...you know what I'm talking about...  

But back to the kids...  Here's my gang on their 1st day of school ~ 2010:

Isabella was SO excited... and it shows in her UNIQUE style personality!!

Rebecca's 1st day of Middle School!  Wow, I just realized I have one in elementary, one in Junior High and one in High School!!    

Victoria wasn't too happy when I remembered I had almost forgot to take a picture of her this morning!!  I told her it was a good thing I didn't remember when we got to school and I made her take a picture in front of everyone!!  hehehe...

So they're all back at it and I'm so excited for them!  All my kids LOVE school and it's such a blessing when they WANT to go back to school!    And now I get to get back to "work"...  which is really just like playing to me!  I LOVE my job!!!!

Oh, here's a photo of the canvas I made last week.  It was just one of those days where I felt like I HAD to do something creative and just gathered some totally misc. stuff and started painting away on a 8x10 canvas...

The postcard is a vintage postcard I got last summer in Paris!  It's of the Opera House that we toured!!  I made the "frame" that the postcard is in dimensional and removable so I could change out the postcard to a picture if I wanted to...

Well, I'm going to try to make the most of this day and get a little done around the house and then a little play time in my craft room!  It's almost all organized!!  Can't wait to show you when it's done!!

Kit Club REVEAL dates!!

Hi ladies, I've been having a BLAST getting back to the kits and ordering gorgeous new goodies!  I've been drooling over the Prima website all morning and can't WAIT to get them in the mail!!

So I thought I'd come on here and get you a little excited and let you know the dates for the reveals...

So for September, I will have the Kit REVEAL on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 7pm PST!   This will be the HUGE sale of grab bags, sample sale and 1 or 2 project kits WITH instructions!!  I am going to hold off on the "European Kit" until October b/c I really have some GREAT new CHA Summer products for to go with my Europe finds when we were there in June/July!!!

and that's JUST the beginning!  I have paper, albums, stickers, rub-ons, ribbon, embellishments, flowers and the list goes ON...  So make sure you get here early on Sept. 11 so you can get a GREAT grab bag at a GREAT price!!  There will be $5 and $10 grab bags, plus a sample sale of past albums and projects I've made for design work, teaching classes and online classes!!  There will also be at least 1 project kit and here's a SNEAK at one of them:

 

So then for October,  I will have the Kit REVEAL on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 7pm PST!!  This will be for the "European Kit" that will be a VERY LIMITED KIT!!  This will include the VINTAGE "finds" and other great items I bought while in England, France and Italy this Summer!  It will be an AMAZING kit and will be offered to previous kit club ladies first!  I will be emailing all my regular customers to see if they want to pre-order this kit since it is very limited and then the remainder will be up for sale on Oct. 9 at 7pm PST.  I will also have a 2nd kit on that night for anyone to purchase!  It will include BRAND NEW CHA Summer items and some vintage and etsy finds as well!

So LOTS moving around here and I'm SUPER excited!  It was great to take the Summer off but now that I'm back to it, I can't WAIT for all of you to see what I have for you!!  It will still be a different "kit club" and not every month, but you know I'll do my best to ROCK the kits.  I haven't decided if I'm going to have a Design Team yet, but will let you know what I decide soon.  Since most of the kits are going to be project kits in the future, I may not do a DT... but then again, I may look for one or two ladies to be apart of the team??  

And, I'm still looking for someone to re-do my blog and I'm thinking I'd like to use the colors that were my inspiration for my craft room b/c they are just making me HAPPY right now!!

Full day of errands...

Do you have those mornings when you wake up early and REALLY wanted to sleep in but then get the CREATIVE bug and realize...  My kids are all asleep and I can sneak downstairs and PLAY??  Well, this morning was one of those days that I could resist getting up and just seeing "what happens"...

I got some random things out that caught my eye and of course some paint, chalk, gesso, paper and embellishments and...

It's not done yet and I may teach this or do a project kit with this, but I just felt the creative juices flowing and went with it!  

I know I'm in the middle of some MAJOR re-organization with all my albums, my craft room and the garage... But don't you just need to "break away" sometimes and do something FUN??

Well, that's what we're doing today!  I have some errands to run down in San Diego before school starts and we thought we'd check out Point Loma University for Victoria as well.  And...since that's close to Paper Tales, you KNOW I'll have to stop in there to say HI and see what goodies Michelle has lately.  I miss that store, haven't been since before Summer!  I've heard about some AWESOME burger place down there as well from Victoria's friend, so we may take a break from eating healthy as well today.. :)-

Oh, I've decided on the colors for my craft room...  Want to see my inspiration:

Watch out people...Victoria can drive!!! 

I'm excited and nervous and going to be on my knees praying a LOT!!   Don't even know how I feel about it yet, but I'm just going be happy for her at this point and go from there...

This weekend was so much fun and we were bouncing from one thing to the next!  I guess trying to get in as much as we can before the girls are back in school.  We also had bought passes at Costco for the 4-day park hoppers a while back and they expired yesterday so we went to Disneyland  on Sunday with the girls.  Friday night we went to dinner with friends and we saw Chris Isaak in concert. He is such a GREAT concert!  If you ever see him coming to your town, don't miss it!  He's not only a great singer, he's hilarious!!

So here's a few pictures that I'm LOVING this Tuesday...

The first time Isabella was tall enough to go on the Bear Rapids!!  Notice daddy and her are wet and Rebecca and I are dry??  Yup, I hid under Rebecca's poncho!! hehehe

Chris Isaak in his yellow suit!!  Not the best outfit, but we had GREAT seats in the center of the 2nd aisle and half the fun was watching the crazy fans trying to get his attention!  (Yes, I'll admit I'm more of a fan of people watching than the actual person in concert!  lol  ;)- 

Definately the right place for this crazy animal!!!  The first time she was on Casey Juniors Train Ride and she loved it.  Don't know why we've never been on it with her before... This was the other girls FAV ride for years!  Now they've moved on and hit the big rides with daddy while I go have a nice roller coaster free time with Isabella!  Just my speed...

Until THIS!!!!  Whose on this ride you ask??  ISABELLA IS!!! Jeepers....  Now I'm going to be forced to go on the roller coasters with the WHOLE family soon!  She wanted to go on the roller coaster on her Disney Polly Pocket... Well, that's Splash Mountian so when we got to this ride, I THOUGHT it was splash mountain and since I was done with water rides, she went with everyone else... But then I went around to the area to take a picture of them coming down the big drop and realized it was Thunder Mountain!!  I quick text Lance to tell him she was NOT going to be happy on this ride and I didn't see them until they were DONE!  Not only was she HAPPY, she wanted to go on it AGAIN!!  Oh, NOOOOO.... What have we started, now there's no-one to go on It's A Small World with me anymore.... :(

   

Pretty soon she may be going with these crazy people on TOWER OF TERROR!!

   

I just want her to stay like this happy little girl who is BEYOND excited to take a picture with her FAV princess....  But I know they grow up.  I'm painfully aware of that today since my oldest, who LOVED to go to Disneyland JUST to take pictures like this, is now the owner of a permit to DRIVE...

Oh, I'm so glad I'm a scrapbooker!!  I'm not ashamed to say I spend WAY too much time in my craft room.  I'm sooo THRILLED that I can look back on my memories by just opening an album and remembering!  I'm happy to spend my free time designing projects, teaching and CREATING with my photos,  And...I'm BLESSED beyond measure that this passion I have for this art form is shared with SO MANY WONDERFUL PEOPLE LIKE YOU!!!  Who visit my blog, buy my kits, comment on here, email me, come to my house, my classes, read the magazines I'm in, see me at CHA, and just create this wonderful COMMUNITY we are in!!!

A word of warning...

After opening up PANDORA'S BOX today, I realized the adhesive I used back a few years ago SUCKS!  Last night I got out some albums and realized I have a LOT of work to do to get them up to date...  BUT... in this process I saw 1/2 my layouts FALLING APART!!!

It is really frustrating to see all the hard work and love that went into those layouts is falling apart and now I have to go back and fix each one!!  SO... I'm going to warn you NOT to buy adhesive at Walmart.  Not sure of the brand and don't want to get in trouble with them but the adhesive did not hold and even STAINED the layouts be showing a tan/brown color THROUGH THE PAPER!!  So NOT happy about that....

I stopped using the adhesive over a year ago but am really hoping that the adhesives I've been using since then will NOT let me down.  If you know of a good adhesive you've been using for years and hasn't let you down, let me know!!  I would LOVE to hear your comments.

Even though I have opened up "Pandora's Box", I'm glad I did it now instead of years from now when the damage is worse.  Also, I have SO MANY layouts that I've done for design work or teaching that were just piling up and now I plan to get EVERYTHING organized from 2002 - the present!!  It's a lot of work and my table is a MESS but I'm going to get it done and move on...

Here's my 2 albums I put together last night with the 2006 layouts:

Now some of you are probably wondering how I did that many layouts in 6 days of vacation....  I did have a few layouts already done from old design work or teaching, but the majority were done in Palm Springs this week.  The layouts were VERY simple and the journaling and titles are not done yet...  I forgot to take very many chipboard alphabets so I will be taking the 1st week the kids are back in school to go back through these layouts and journal and give them titles...  But here's a peek into the layouts...

Keep in mind, the journaling and titles are not done and I took these pictures late at night, so not my best pictures...

I forgot to say that the only supplies I took with me were from old kits or projects!  It was so GREAT to get into my old stash and put it to use!!!

Oh, but I did make a trip to JoAnns for a few embellishments like the flowers on this and the shells on the one above and LOTS of adhesive! :)

 Really bad lighting and still needs a title and journaling... but LOVE these pictures of the 1st time Isabella was playing at the beach!

This one needs the word "Reunion" still...  

 

As you can see, these layouts are SUPER easy and some I could do in 10 minutes or less!  I still need to go back and do the journaling on a lot of them, but I wouldn't have gotten so many layouts done if I would have stopped to do all that as well...

again, bad lighting taking these at night...  but wanted to share just a few of the layouts with you!

Well, I've still got a TON to catch up on and get organized...  I guess that's probably everyone elses dilemma too.  With design work, teaching, the kit club and LIFE, I just haven't been doing a good job of keeping the albums up.  I don't really scrapbook chronilogiclly with design work, so going back and figuring out what goes where will take some time.  But I LOVE a challenge and I'm excited to get it done!

 I still haven't decided on a date for the next kit and sale...  I know I will be having a project kit and those grab bag kits up for sale soon after the girls are in school and the "European Kit" won't be until end of September or beginning of October b/c I REALLY want the new CHA goodies!!

Share day!!

Hi ladies,

I thought I would "share" my layouts with you that I had fun creating in Michigan.  I was THRILLED that I got some time to just sit with Dawn and we could chat, watch some TV and SCRAP!  It's been a LONG time since I just focused on my family and our memories and put that down in our own albums!  It made me realize again how important it is to take that time to record your LIFE!!

So I had gathered up some supplies to take with me to CHA and Michigan and it really wasn't that much b/c there wasn't much room left in my suitcase! lol...  But I was happy I printed out some pictures and had a rough idea of some layouts I wanted to create!  It's VERY different scrapping with only 1/100th of my supplies at home! hehehe... I actually ENJOYED NOT having everything at my disposal because it freed me up to create with JUST what I had on hand.  I don't usually crop at stores or other houses so when I create at home there is WAY too much stash on hand...  Do you know how that is?  I'm sure you do!  But going with a limited amount of supplies and just letting go of "perfection" was so GREAT!!  I was able to do 5 layouts in just 2 nights!!  They may not be prize worthy layouts, but they can't all be and that's not the point anyways.  It's to REMEMBER the times together, to JOURNAL our thoughts and it's to ENJOY looking at together in the future!!

So here they are:

My dad turned 70 last October and it's really a blessing to see his LOVE for his grandkids!  We don't know how long he will be with us and we treasure this time.

 

Lance surprised me last summer after I got home from Michigan with a "date nite"!  He took me in the new mini cooper to the drive-in!! It was a BLAST and we saw an old Elvis movie!!  FUN TIMES...

I can't believe how "grown up" she looks!  This was after she had her hair done and he put some highlights in it.  she didn't like it but I had her sit on the stairs and I took a few photos that night of it. (b/c I knew she was going to want to change it back soon :)

 
Rebecca is growing up fast too!  (and I didn't notice the red lipstick until AFTER the photos ;)-

This was from our trip to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho a few years ago.  I had been saving the pictures for a mini-album but decided to make a 2 page layout with them instead.  I've really been wanting to get back to my 12x12 albums and making layouts instead of having lots of mini albums around the house...  I really like how simple this layout is, yet has a LOT of photos in it.  I got the idea from I think the July/August issue of CK magazine.   This trip was in 2007 and Isabella STILL wants to go back there and talks about this day!!

Well, those are my fast and easy layouts!  Hope you enjoyed looking at them and i would encourage you to try simplifying things and only allowing yourself to use a small amount of supplies and see how "freeing" that is!!  It really makes me want to USE up the stash I have and not look at the cute new stuff out there... (yeah, right!  I like the IDEA of that though :)-

I am LOVING these pictures from my time in Michigan!!

I took a TON of pictures of Ty, Dawn and Ella at the beach one night and I'll let them share those first, but this one was just SO cute of her looking at her feet in the sand!!

And then me and my bro at Lake Michigan.   

 

Then we went to South Haven for a nice afternoon by the water and some shopping too!  Such a cute town.

I just LOVE lakes and a lake you can sail on and is SO big, you think it's an ocean is my FAVORITE!!

So cute!

one of my FAV spots in Holland, Michigan is this little public dock that you can sit on and just enjoy the beautiful view of the lake!!  I always make time to just sit and enjoy this place!

Such an adorable window display in town!  I love how they painted the ENTIRE bike white, even the tires to give it such a vintage "whitewash" look...

Windmill Island!  The last windmill completely assembled and shipped outside of the Netherlands!  How perfect that it's in Holland, Michigan!!

You can barely see Dawn & Ella on this bridge but just a great bridge with the windmill behind it.

Some great Historic cabins for rent at Ottawa Beach... those would be SO fun to rent during the summer for sure!!  Maybe some day...

The Dutch Village in town!  I was looking for a dutch doll for Isabella at all these places and would you believe I couldn't find ONE!!  I wanted one she could play with, not a porcelein one and I couldn't find anything!!

I took some time one night to drive down to the beach by myself to watch the sunset.  It's so unusual for me to be by myself on vacation, so it was a nice time to just watch the sun go down and reflect on life...

Had such a GREAT time and can't WAIT to go back next summer when it's time for Rebecca to be in Ty's SERVE project!

Hope all of you are enjoying your last days of Summer.  Most kids in this area are going back to school this week.  Mine still have a couple more weeks left and we are going to enjoy some time with my mom & dad the next couple days and then some time in Palm Springs with Lance's mom & dad.  I'm so thankful that I can be home with the girls when they are out of school and spend time with them and with family!!

CHA wrap-up and a little down time...

Hi ladies!  I'm back from CHA and spending some GREAT down time with my brother's family!  I had such a fantastic time and even though I was gone for a week, it felt like such a LONG time away from MY babies!!  So I'm happy to be back and SOOO excited to spend a couple more weeks with the girls before they go back to school and THEN...get back in the saddle with A Kiss on the Chic!! 

A lot of kids are going back to school this next Monday... are the kids in your area going back so soon??  I'm glad mine have until the end of the month b/c I feel like we've been so busy, we haven't just "hung out" together...  Will have to plan to do NOTHING together this next week! :)  

Tomorrow, Saturday the 7th I have planned to have a HUGE "Scrap Sale & Crop" at my house!  I'm almost ready and can't wait!  The only problem is b/c so many kids are going back to school in my area, a lot of families are spending this time together and can't make my crop and sale... No worries though!  I'm still having it and whoever can come, COME!!  I'll be here from 9am - 9pm and I will have GREAT bargains for you!!  I can't believe I've owned A Kiss on the Chic kit club for over 2 years now!!  It's been a HUGE blessing to get to know so many ladies through this venture and know SO many ladies ALL OVER THE WORLD because of it!!  I'm excited to get started on my 3rd year!!!  And the way I'm going to be able to do that is to.... CLEAR OUT ALL THE EXTRA'S!!!

So....  I'm thinking that since most of YOU don't live in my area, I will go ahead and put whatever is left over (which will still be a TON :)- into $5.00 grab bag kits and sell them ONLINE!!  How does that sound??

This will take me a little time to put together but I'll have more details next week on a date and time when I will be putting them up on my "Kit Sale" page on THIS blog!!  I will only be doing the grab bags for U.S customers though... Sorry Int'l ladies, but it will be too difficult and pricey with the shipping to get them sent around the world...

Now one more bit of news before I share a TON of pictures...

The next A Kiss on the Chic Kits are in the works!!!  I told everyone I was taking the Summer off and I am truely enjoying the fact that I did... BUT... I'm excited to come back with a BANG!  I haven't shown pictures yet of the "finds" from EUROPE and I'm sure a lot of you are excited to see what's in store for this "European Kit"... Well, I will be revealing some SNEAKS next week and give you some details on time frame.  I'm REALLY wanting to add some BRAND NEW CHA SUMMER items to this kit so that may delay the release a bit... I had said September I would have this kit together and I think that's still looking good, but it may be later on in September... So keep that in mind and I'll be announcing more next week!!

Maya Road Sewing Maching album!!  Dare I say this is a Katie Watson creation??  I'm pretty sure that is her beautiful work at hand! (correct me if I'm wrong)  Love the new Maya Road Chipboard albums!  They have a fun "picket fence" album too that I plan to get my hands on for sure!!

This is a new company, I think "Harmonie"??  that has paper lines, embellishments and laser etched Acrylic 12x12 albums!  This one is beautiful with the colors that someone hand painted behind the front cover!  They all come clear and etched and one that I wasn't able to take pictures of was a damask pattern that was STUNNING!!  I love the idea of 12x12 albums in acrylic and then they have regular page protectors inside for your 12x12 layouts!!  The best of both worlds!!

  

With all that Brandin from Webster's Pages has going on (brand new baby just to name one :), she has come out with new flowers to match her new lines!  Oh MY.... take a look at these beauties!! I just LOVE the colors in this set and the bouquets can actually come apart and you can put them everywhere and anywhere!! Love it!!

 

Here's Brandin and I outside her booth!  She's so much FUN and just wish we lived closer b/c I know we'd be having BBQ's together with the families for sure!!

 

O.k.... Tim Holtz has done it again!!  These shadow boxes are AWESOME!!!  I have to say that my MOM was WAY ahead of the curve though.... She was making these when I was a little girl!!  I even remember her making them and then friends wanted them too. (mom, do you have any pictures?? I SO wish I had a picture to show you how "70's" they were!! ) lol...  In fact, that's why I did a class on shadow boxes a couple years ago b/c  I remember them and thought I could do an updated version on it...and was trying to get someone to make them in WOOD for me where my mom lives!  They were too costly to hand make so I found some at Michaels for my class, but TIM... this is such a GREAT idea, THANK YOU!!!  I LOVE that it's "mixable", that it's lightweight and so customizable!!!!  Ya, going to have to do another "shadow box" class real soon!

   

7 Gypsies... I love EVERYTHING you do!!  I really can just walk around their booth over and over, finding new things I didn't see and drooling over ALL OF IT!!  Soooo have to have some of this in my kits!! (EEEK!!! brb...SPIDER in the house!!)

Hate spiders... especially in my HOUSE!!  In California we have Black Widows...so anytime I see a spider....it's GONE...SMASHED...flushed down to the ocean!! lol...

O.k. back to my FAV's...

I have to say one of my ALL TIME FAV's of CHA... is Glitz Design !  Those 3 ladies have REALLY made me stop in my tracks!!  I remember when I got the email from them announcing these 3 new lines... I was SOOO excited to see them in person!  AND... be still my beating heart... they are BETTER in person!!  I can't WAIT ladies... can't WAIT to get these lines in my little hands!!!  I like all 3 and I'm going to be using probably ONE of them in my European Finds Kit!!  So here's a look...

Here's me with the Glitz girls!! They are SO nice and FUN!!!  and these lines are FANTASTIC ladies!!!  Can't WAIT to start playing with them!!

This really was a GREAT CHA!  Not a very big one and much smaller then I thought it would be, but some of THE BEST lines I've ever seen!!  Another TOP FAV was Pink Paislee !  There new lines are so lovely, I had to come back over and over and take quick peeks (in between working in the Clear Scraps booth, I didn't get out much :)

 

O.k. I had several of you email me and tell me to see the new Pink Paislee and House of 3 colaboration b/c it had "ME" written all over it too!!  Oh yeah baby... it sure does!!  This is an AMAZING work of art and it's going to be a FOR SURE in my kits!!  I can't tell you how excited I was to touch and feel these new products!!!  I'm still dreaming about this line and all it's embellishments and resist papers!!!  Do some of you remember my wedding kit last June with the Heidi Swapp  resist papers and chipboard??  Well, she had done it again!!!  And this House of 3/Pink Paislee line is so over-the-top GORGEOUS, I am just beside myself!!!!  So plan on seeing this in some sort of kit/class of mine soon!!!

Oh, so much FUN!!!  I could keep going on and on.... but I need to get ready for my "Scrap Sale" tomorrow!!!

I'll share pictures of my time with ELLA next week!!  Such a JOY to get to know her and have her call me "Auntie Waura".... hehehe....

Lastly, I want to thank all you ladies for being SOOO understanding!  You know I've taken the Summer off from the Kit club, I've talked to you about how I want to downsize the Kit Club, I've expressed my desire to do kits that are more meaningful and project oriented, I've told you I want to make kits less often....

And you've STILL stuck with me!!  I guess I just don't want to be in the "pump out kits every month" mold.... I want them to be purposeful, I want my kits to have VINTAGE finds, I want them to be UNIQUE, and I want YOU to LOVE THEM!!!  And that doesn't happen very easily on a monthly basis.  So sending {HUGS} out to all of you who still stick with me, will buy my kits WHENEVER I have them and still support my CREATIVE spirit and bless me with the TIME spent getting to know YOU more!!!
